Gordon wrote Grace and the Incredible Leaf while living in Durham, North Carolina and was inspired by the heavily wooded terrain of Durham and surrounding areas. Inspiration also comes from his nieces and nephews, which number around fourteen, as well as his own son who is four. “With all of these wonderful kids in my life, I'll have an unlimited source of material for my books for years to come," Gordon proclaims. “Grace and the Incredible Leaf is a project about which I am very passionate because I feel it is a book for all ages. For the three year old, it can simply teach about the cycle of life. But for the contemplative adult it can take you as deep as you want it to go. I left the ending as a bit of a question to provoke conversation between the adult reader and the young listener.” |
